LAHORE, Jan 01 (APP):The Punjab government has ordered for strict implementation of the law prohibiting illegal kite flying across the province, following growing concerns over public safety.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a letter to commissioners, deputy commissioners, RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs to enforce the ban and ensure full compliance.
The government has expressed concerns about the rising number of incidents where passersby have been injured due to illegal kite flying, which is considered a serious threat to human lives. Protection of public safety remains the government’s top priority, according to the department’s notification. It further stressed that kite flying that endangers lives will not be permitted under any circumstances.
While there is a complete ban on kite making and flying prior to the approved time, the government has allowed Basant celebrations on a limited scale in Lahore only, scheduled for February 6, 7, and 8. The Home Department clarified that only safe kite flying as part of the Spring Festival will be permitted, with clear restrictions in place to ensure public safety.
The Kite Flying Regulations Bill 2025 stipulates that those found engaging in illegal kite flying will face strict legal action. The government has warned of indiscriminate action against violators, including those involved in kite making without prior government approval.
