ATTOCK, Nov 24 (APP): Punjab government has enforced the Immovable Property Protection Ordinance 2025 as part of a province-wide initiative to safeguard citizens’ property rights and crack down on the land-grab mafia.
According to APP correspondent, Deputy Director Public Relations Attock, Shehzad Niaz Khokhar, said the ordinance has been implemented on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has vowed “iron-handed action against land grabbers” and swift, free-of-cost justice for citizens affected by illegal dispossession.
He said Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza has completed all necessary preparations to operationalize the new legal framework across the district.
Under the ordinance, strong legal protections have been introduced against illegal occupation, fraudulent transfers, and forged documents. A district-level dispute resolution committee will be constituted to ensure rapid handling of complaints, while specialized tribunals will be granted powers equivalent to civil and sessions courts.
According to the district administration, property-related cases will be decided within 90 days, significantly reducing delays that often enable land mafias to exploit legal loopholes.
For public facilitation, the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) will provide digital verification services, transparent land records, and an online complaint mechanism. Citizens will be able to verify property documents, ownership details, and offender information simply by scanning a QR code.
The PLRA and Board of Revenue have issued a warning to land grabbers and individuals involved in forgery, stating that offenders will face 5 to 10 years imprisonment along with heavy fines.
Officials said the new ordinance aims to make land grabbing a high-risk, non-viable crime while ensuring that victims receive timely and effective justice.
