LAHORE, Jan 15 (APP):The Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab has announced the deployment of 3,000 newly recruited charge nurses (BS-16) across 31 government teaching hospitals in Punjab.
According to the notification issued here on Wednesday, all charge nurses have been instructed to take charge of their duties immediately.
The deployment includes significant additions to major hospitals in Lahore, such as 440 charge nurses at Mayo Hospital, 253 at Services Hospital, 201 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and 100 each at General Hospital and the Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health. Smaller hospitals like Jinnah Burn and Reconstructive Surgery Center and Government Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Yaki Gate, have also received postings to enhance their services.
In South Punjab, hospitals in Bahawalpur, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and DG Khan have been strengthened with over 600 new nurses combined, addressing critical staff shortages in these regions. Similarly, Allied Hospitals in Faisalabad, the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore, and other specialized institutes, including those in Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, and Bahawalpur, have received new staff to improve their healthcare delivery.
The Children’s Hospitals in Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad have also been prioritized, ensuring better care for pediatric patients. Smaller facilities, such as the Syed Muhammad Hussain Government TB Sanatorium in Murree, have not been overlooked, receiving essential nursing staff to maintain service quality.
This large-scale deployment is expected to bring a transformative change in Punjab’s healthcare system. By addressing staffing gaps and strengthening various departments, the government aims to improve patient care and overall healthcare delivery across the province.
