RAWALPINDI, Jul 30 (APP):Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Wednesday directed that all departments concerned should be fully prepared for the new spell of monsoon rains.
The chief secretary issued the directive while chairing an important meeting at the Commissioner Office.
Besides Commissioner Engineer Aamir Khattak, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema and assistant commissioners, the meeting was attended by representatives of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company and various other departments.
Performance reports of the RWMC and other institutions were presented in the meeting.
The chief secretary observed that cleanliness campaign should not be limited to the monsoon season only but should continue throughout the year.
Directing that the Suthra Punjab programme should be expanded to rural areas, he said the cleanliness campaign should not be limited to urban areas.
The Rawalpindi Division should be made an exemplary area through collective efforts, he added.
Commissioner Khattak on the occasion urged the citizens to fully participate in the Suthra Punjab programme.
The meeting also discussed beautification schemes, public facilities and infrastructure improvement in Rawalpindi.
The chief secretary said all departments should ensure timely completion of public welfare projects through mutual communication.
