Punjab CNF recovers narcotics over Rs 84m in province-wide operations

LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has intensified province-wide operations against drug traffickers and smugglers, recovering over 290 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs 84 million during the last two weeks.
According to the spokesman on Wednesday, the operations were conducted in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, “Drug-Free Punjab: A Healthy and Safe Punjab.”
As a result of the crackdown, 31 suspects were arrested and 17 cases were registered under the Punjab Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2025.The recovered contraband included 136 kilograms of chars, 51 kilograms of opium, 79 kilograms of bhang, 13 kilograms of weed, 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 7 kilograms of ice, 3 kilograms of heroin and 28 ecstasy pills.
In Gujranwala, CNF recovered over 178 kilograms of narcotics, including 128 kilograms of chars and 50 kilograms of opium, and arrested five smugglers. In Dera Ghazi Khan, intelligence-based operations led to the seizure of around 58 kilograms of drugs, including ice and bhang, with two suspects taken into custody.
In Rawalpindi, CNF recovered over eight kilograms of narcotics, including 1.5 kilograms of cocaine worth approximately Rs 30 million, and arrested five drug peddlers. In Faisalabad, 25 kilograms of bhang were recovered and one suspect was arrested.
Similarly, in Multan, more than 10 kilograms of narcotics were seized during raids, resulting in the arrest of six individuals. In Sahiwal, five kilograms of chars were recovered and three suspects were arrested, while in Sargodha, CNF seized ice and heroin and arrested one drug trafficker.
The spokesman said the successful operations reflected the professional competence and firm resolve of the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force to eliminate the drug menace from the province.
