LAHORE, Nov 03 (APP):The 41st meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held at the Punjab Home Department under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique.
According to a spokesperson from the Home Department, the meeting was briefed by Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi and representatives from various law enforcement agencies on the current security situation across the province.
The committee conducted a thorough review of the law and order situation and issued directives for foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming Pakistan-Sri Lanka cricket series starting on November 11, as well as the subsequent Pakistan-Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe tri-nation series.
The Cabinet Committee also approved an extension of Rangers’ deployment in Attock and Dera Ghazi Khan and emphasized the modernization of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency to meet contemporary needs and improve its efficiency.
Speaking at the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique reiterated that the safety of citizens and their property is the state’s foremost priority. “The law and order situation across Punjab is satisfactory,” he said, while highlighting the extraordinary security measures that will be put in place during the cricket series.
He further assured that comprehensive arrangements had been made for the celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary. “Under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, all law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to maintain peace in the province,” he added.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Secretary Auqaf Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, Additional IG Police Chaudhry Sultan, DIGs of the Special Branch and CTD, and other senior representatives from the Home Department.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Sameer Ahmad Syed, along with Commissioners and RPOs from across Punjab, participated in the meeting via video link.
