LAHORE, May 30 (APP):The Punjab Home Department has issued a comprehensive directive ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, banning the collection of sacrificial animal skins by banned organizations and introducing enhanced security measures across the province to counter potential threats.
According to the notification, only organisations registered with the Punjab Charity Commission will be allowed to collect sacrificial skins. Banned outfits are strictly prohibited from engaging in any such activity.
The directive highlights the need for heightened vigilance in view of potential security threats. Deputy commissioners across the province have been authorised to impose Section 144 wherever necessary to maintain law and order.
Key security directives issued are:
* Special security plans must be formulated and implemented at the district level.
* Security at critical installations, sensitive locations, Eidgahs, mosques, and madrasas is to be reinforced.
* CCTV cameras, walk-through gates, and complete scanning of individuals must be ensured at Eid congregations.
* Police and administration personnel must remain active in the field.
* Strict screening at all entry and exit points of Punjab is to be carried out.
* Livestock markets are to be set up outside city limits at approved locations, with security personnel deployed.
* Sale of sacrificial animals is prohibited at unauthorised sites.
To ensure emergency preparedness, deputy commissioners have been directed to verify that the disaster management plan in each district is fully functional. The Divisional and District Intelligence Committees have also been instructed to convene immediately to finalise Eid security strategies.
The Home Department also highlighted the strict enforcement of the Punjab Sound Systems (Regulations) Act 2015 during Eid prayers to prevent provocative or sectarian content.
Additional instructions include:
* Search operations near key sites with the support of sensitive agencies.
* Controlled parking away from Eid prayer sites and formulation of citywide traffic diversion plans.
* Full readiness of hospitals, with adequate staff and medicine ensured.
* Civil Defence, Health Department, and Rescue 1122 to remain on high alert.
* Peace and interfaith harmony committee meetings to be convened at the district level.
* Immediate legal action against sectarian and inflammatory speeches.
* Complete prohibition on the display of weapons.
* Surveillance of Fourth Schedule individuals.
* Formation of district-level task forces to counter underage driving and one-wheeling.
* Enhanced security at entertainment venues, Eid bazaars, and food outlets.
* Establishment of district-level control rooms, linked with the central control room at the Home Department.
The Home Department has directed all relevant authorities to finalise and implement all security and administrative arrangements before Eid to ensure public safety and communal harmony.
