LAHORE, Sep 06 (APP):Taking another major step to accelerate development, the Punjab government approved seven road packages under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme during the fifth meeting of the Punjab Public Private Authority here on Sunday.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb chaired the meeting, which reviewed measures to improve infrastructure, public services, and institutional performance. Under the approved arrangements, successful private bidders will construct and rehabilitate provincial roads, maintain operational management for seven years, and share profits with the government.
The meeting also endorsed a major initiative for the local production of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines through the PPP framework, alongside reviewing the transformation of livestock farms. Furthermore, amendments to the bid evaluation mechanism were approved to enhance transparency.
Addressing the session, Marriyum Aurangzeb said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of developing various sectors through private-sector collaboration would prove to be a game changer for the province, emphasizing timely project completion without compromising quality.
Later, the senior minister visited the Punjab Financial Assistance Services (PFAS) department, where she commended the finance team and department heads for their exemplary performance.
