LAHORE, Jun 16 (APP):The Punjab government has allocated Rs 5 billion for the Information and Culture sector in its Development Program for the fiscal year 2025–26.
According to the budget documents, Rs 1.064 billion have been set aside for ongoing schemes, while Rs 3.936 billion has been allocated for new projects, reflecting the government’s focus on revitalizing the cultural infrastructure of the province.
A key highlight of the budget is the up-gradation of the Al-Hamra Arts Council on The Mall and the Cultural Complex near Gaddafi Stadium, with a total estimated cost of Rs 2.4 billion. Out of this, Rs 450 million have been earmarked for the upcoming fiscal year.
Another major project included in the budget is the construction of a state-of-the-art Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) Complex, with an estimated cost of Rs 4.968 billion. For this purpose, the government has allocated Rs 1.003 billion in the fiscal year 2025–26 budget.
In a significant move to promote the film industry, the Punjab government has also announced the creation of a Film City. For the feasibility study and initial funding for the Film City and the Cinema Development Funds, an amount of Rs 2 billion has been allocated.
