RAWALPINDI, Nov 18 (APP): Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam on Tuesday said that public cooperation had been crucial in managing the diversion of more than 200,000 vehicles daily during the ongoing Katcheri Chowk mega project, where major construction-related closures and diversions are in place.
He said in a statement that maintaining traffic flow on alternative routes during the project was “no less than a challenge”, but the patience and discipline shown by commuters, together with the efforts of traffic personnel, had significantly helped ease congestion.
The CTO said over 450 traffic officials were performing duty in three shifts along the University Chowk–Annexe Chowk stretch, where three flyovers and three underpasses were under construction. He added that officers were using all available resources to keep traffic moving, particularly during school opening and closing hours and peak office timings.
He said awareness updates on diversions and the traffic situation were being regularly shared through social media platforms and FM 88.6 to assist commuters in planning their journeys.
Farhan Aslam urged the citizens to continue cooperating with traffic staff, follow instructions, avoid unnecessary travel towards Katcheri Chowk, and keep an additional 25 to 30 minutes for journeys until completion of the project.
He appreciated the positive attitude shown by the public and expressed the hope that cooperation would continue.
