LAHORE, Oct 27 (APP):The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) organized a Desktop Distribution Ceremony to officially commence phase 2 and phase 3 of its flagship program, Mein Digital-Empowering Rural Women by Way of IT Training (ERWIT).
During the ceremony, 77 women from Sheikhpura, Kasur, Gujrat, Sialkkot, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal were awarded desktop computers to begin their digital learning journey from home. These candidates were selected through a merit-based evaluation Process and will now proceed to the six-month online instructor-led training, covering digital marketing, English language skills, e-commerce, basic IT skills, and content creation.
The event was attended by Adnan Afzal Chattha, Chairperson, Chief Minister Punjab Task Force for Skills Development, who appreciated PSDF’s efforts in making technology and income-generation opportunities accessible to rural women.
Ahmad Khan, CEO PSDF, commented on the program’s transformation: “phase 1 has shown how powerful this initiative can be-women who had never touched a computer are now selling products online and contributing to family income. With Phase 2&3,77 more women from six districts are stepping confidently into the digital economy”.
Following the strong and inspiring response to Phase1, Mein Digital has proven its potential to transform lives. Women from the first phase have already begun applying their skills to digital platforms, earning former homes and breaking conventional economic barriers. This success has established a strong foundation for expanding the program across more districts through Phase 2 and 3.
Adnan Afzal Chattha, Chairperson, CM Punjab Task Force for skills Development, said: “Mein Digital is the practical implementation of the Chief Minister’s vision- to empower women at the grassroots level with skills and digital access. When women are empowered, households prosper and communities’ progress.”
