LAHORE, Dec 08 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has intensified operations to prevent environmental pollution, as a crop-residue burning incident was reported through the Connect to Safe City feature.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, an alert regarding the burning of crop remnants was received on the emergency helpline 15 from Maulana Shaukat Ali Road. Using the Connect to Safe City feature, the PSCA immediately converted the caller’s mobile phone into a live camera to assess the situation in real time.
A Safe City officer promptly deployed a drone to the location and initiated aerial monitoring of the area.
A Rescue team was also dispatched without delay, successfully extinguishing the fire in time.
The entire operation was continuously monitored in the control room through the live feed of the Safe
City drone.
The spokesperson added that the authority’s modern surveillance system is playing a key role in timely detecting activities contributing to smog.
Citizens have been urged to immediately report any smog-causing activities to the emergency helpline 15, the spokesperson concluded.
