LAHORE, Oct 07 (APP):A gang involved in a series of mobile phone and cash snatching incidents in Lahore has been apprehended with the help of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) state-of-the-art surveillance system.
According to the PSCA spokesperson, the suspects had been operating in the areas of Shadman Market and Lakshmi Chowk. Acting swiftly upon receiving a complaint, a virtual patrolling officer utilised the Safe City camera network to trace the movements of the suspects.
The gang’s motorcycle was identified at multiple locations through real-time monitoring, and the relevant police teams were immediately alerted. Based on the intelligence and coordination provided by the PSCA, police launched a successful operation and arrested the culprits.
CCTV footage of the incident, released by Safe City, shows the suspects snatching a mobile phone from a pedestrian and fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
The spokesperson emphasised the growing role of surveillance technology in crime prevention and rapid suspect identification. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant in public spaces, especially in crowded markets and while using mobile phones on foot or on motorcycles.
Citizens are advised to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling the Punjab Emergency Helpline 15.
