PSCA opens ASEAN capacity building programme to boost regional security cooperation

LAHORE, Nov 17 (APP): The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) launched the ASEAN Capacity Building Programme at its headquarters on Monday, bringing together provincial ministers, senior officials, and delegates from ASEAN member states to enhance regional collaboration on advanced security technologies.
Provincial Minister for Information Punjab Azma Bokhari graced the ceremony as the chief guest, while Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Managing Director (MD) PSCA Ahsan Younis, and other senior officials were also present.
MD PSCA Muhammad Ahsan Younis briefed the participants on the objectives, operational framework, and technological components of the Smart Safe City project. He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence, smart analytics, and modern monitoring systems in enhancing urban security and public safety.
In her address, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari highlighted that the Smart Safe City initiative marks a significant step in strengthening urban security mechanisms. She reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the Punjab government’s top priority. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, she said, the Safe Cities initiatives are laying the foundation for a modern, secure, and smart urban environment. She also underscored the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in the development of smart cities, noting that the Safe City project is enhancing Pakistan’s global image by integrating cutting-edge technologies.
