LAHORE, Oct 20 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a province-wide anti-smog campaign under special directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to PSCA spokesman on Monday, special smog surveillance teams have been deployed across Punjab to monitor pollution round the clock through Smart Safe City Centres. The spokesman said, over 350 smog-related violations have been identified using high-tech cameras and drone surveillance in multiple cities, including Lahore.
In Lahore, authorities have taken action against 85 smoke-emitting vehicles and 262 trolleys transporting construction material without proper coverings.
The authority said enforcement efforts are ongoing against vehicles, factories, chimneys and brick kilns contributing to air pollution. E-challans are being issued to violators spotted by the surveillance network, added spokesman.
A spokesman said the authority remains committed not only to crime prevention but also to addressing environmental concerns. Citizens are encouraged to report smog-generating activities by calling emergency helpline 15.
