Provincial Secretary inaugurates New BS English section at Nazareth College Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Nov 04 (APP): Secretary of Information and College Education Sindh Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon visited Nazareth College Hyderabad, where he inaugurated the newly established BS English Literature section.
According to a handout issued here on Tuesday, during the visit, the Secretary inspected the English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics laboratories as well as the library and classrooms, where he interacted with teachers and students and appreciated the administration’s performance.
Nadeem Ur Rehman Memon also attended a ceremony held in connection with Allama Iqbal Day, where students presented tableaus inspired by the poetry of Allama Iqbal.
In his address, the Secretary said that the 2022 floods caused widespread damage to the infrastructure of educational institutions, but the Sindh government remains committed to improve the education sector through serious and consistent efforts.
He assured that the shortage of teaching staff will be addressed, and communication and coordination among colleges will also be strengthened. Encouraging students, he said that they must pursue education with dedication and hard work, as the world was now entering an era dominated by information technology and artificial intelligence.
He further emphasized that students should draw inspiration from history and great personalities to strengthen their identity and purpose.
Nadeem Ur Rehman Memon added that improving the quality and facilities of education was among the top priorities of the Sindh Government.
He said that efforts were being made to promote modern disciplines such as IT and scientific studies in colleges so that students can effectively meet future challenges. He reaffirmed that the government was taking practical measures to resolve teacher shortages, address salary concerns and enhance educational infrastructure across Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Professor Dr. Saeeda Parveen Memon highlighted the college’s academic history, newly launched programs and recent achievements. She informed that 60 students have enrolled in the new BS English program, and that the college currently houses 23 departments, 104 faculty members, and over 3,000 students.
Dr. Saeeda Parveen added that Nazareth College will celebrate its Platinum Jubilee next year, while pointing out the shortage of teachers in Physics, Urdu and Geography, which she hoped would soon be addressed.
The ceremony was attended by Director General College Education Dr. Naveed-ul-Rab Siddiqui, Regional Director College Education Mustafa Kamal Phatan, Regional Director Information Hyderabad Shehzad Ahmed Shaikh, Principal Dr. Saeeda Parveen Memon and other officials.
