Provincial Minister Social Welfare visits Rwp to review registration process of ‘Himmat Card’

RAWALPINDI, Aug 07 (APP):Provincial Minister, Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Punjab, Sohail Shaukat Butt on Wednesday visited Divisional Complex Social Welfare Rawalpindi and reviewed the ongoing registration process for ‘Himmat Card’ scheme for special persons.
The minister was briefed regarding the ongoing registration for the ‘Himmat Card’ project for special persons.
Later, the minister also visited the ‘Himmat Card’ registration centre at Sir Syed Chowk and inspected in detail the ongoing registration process.
Sohail Shoukat Butt on the occasion said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz was striving for the welfare of special people. Issuance of ‘Himmat Card’ for special people is a very good initiative of the Punjab government, he added.
The government had approved a stipend amounting to Rs 10,500 for the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme, he said adding that special persons registered with the Social Welfare Department would be eligible for a quarterly stipend amounting to Rs 10,500.
So far, more than 20,000 special persons had been registered across Punjab, the minister said adding, this year, 65,000 special persons would be registered under the scheme.
All possible steps were being taken to maintain transparency, he said and added that persons not capable of working as per disability certificate are eligible for the ‘Himmat Card’ scheme. He also appreciated the participation of the special persons to ensure accurate data entry.
Members of the Provincial Assembly Punjab, Director Social Welfare Rawalpindi, Rana Shahid and other officers were also present on this occasion.
The provincial minister during the visit also planted a sapling in the premises of Divisional Complex Social Welfare.
