LAHORE, Nov 01 (APP): A major plan has been prepared to build 1,000 groundwater to recharge wells in Lahore.
According to the details, a major project will be introduced to maintain and recharge the groundwater level. Housing department official sources told APP , that in this connection, a recharge well has been built to recharge the groundwater level. The capacity of the groundwater recharge well is 8000 gallons per day, while only three groundwater recharge wells are functional in Lahore.
Moreover, a total of 15 groundwater wells will be built in Lahore in initial stage. They said that modern engineering solutions have been introduced as per the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab. PHA Lahore will allocate space for groundwater recharge wells in all parks.
Meanwhile in this connection Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal has said that special care should be taken of the existing trees during the construction of groundwater recharge wells,they said adding that important decisions have been taken to prevent environmental pollution. Furthermore, groundwater recharge points will be built across the province under WASA Punjab.
He said that water is a blessing, it should be saved from being wasted. All institutions will complete this project seriously.
