MUZAFFARABAD, Jun 23 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that the dream of real development could be materialised only through the improvement of the education system.
He expressed these views while talking to a high level delegation that called him here on Monday. Led by Minister for Higher Education Azad Kashmir Zafar Iqbal Malik, the delegation was comprised of Secretary Higher Education Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, President Azad Kashmir college teachers Association (ACTA) Azad Tariq Saleem, Senior Vice President ACTA Dr. Zafar Iqbal, General Secretary ACTA Chaudhry Abdul Rahim and others.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that steps were being taken to improve the quality of education in colleges across Azad Kashmir. He, however, maintained that the real change in the region could be achieved through a combination of hard work, planning and consistency.
Lauding the teachers’ significant role in nation building, the PM said that the quality of education hinges on teachers’ dedication and their commitment to the national cause.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to provide the best educational facilities to the citizens, the PM said, ” If the quality of education improves, things can improve automatically”. He said that promotion of modern technology was the need of the hour.He suggested that teachers’ organizations, intellectuals and educationists must form an effective forum to bring reforms in the education system, which was appreciated by the representatives of the ACTA present in the meeting.
The PM assured the visiting delegation that the government was keen to solve the problems of the faculty in colleges.He said that education has been given priority in the budget.
He stated that shortcomings in the system have been eliminated and things were moving in the right direction.He said that the fruits of the exemplary measures taken by the coalition government have now started reaching the ordinary people.
Earlier, a detailed briefing was given to Prime Minister regarding the initiatives of the Higher Education Department Azad Kashmir and the challenges faced by teachers associated with higher education.
