ABBOTTABAD, Nov 24 (APP):Chairman Board of Governors (BoG) of Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), Prof. Dr. Abid Jameel, has approved a Rs197.857 million package to fulfill the long-pending four-year demand of Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs), marking a major financial and administrative breakthrough for young doctors of the institution.
Prof. Dr. Abid Jameel extended heartfelt congratulations to all TMOs, stating that they were the “frontline heroes” of the hospital and that ensuring their welfare, improved facilities, and professional growth was the administration’s responsibility.
The issue, pending for several years despite PHC directives in June 2025, was resolved swiftly after TMOs met the Chairman BoG. The relevant file, which had been stalled in the Finance Department, was traced and processed immediately, and a formal notification was issued in record time in line with the Chairman’s commitment.
Under the landmark decision, stipend enhancement for TMOs serving in Category-B hospitals has been approved, with Rs197.857 million allocated for the fiscal year 2025–26 (CFY 2025–26). The step is expected to reduce financial stress on trainee doctors and significantly improve their morale.
According to the ATH administration, all TMOs have been extended warm congratulations by the Chairman BoG. The hospital further stated that it would continue introducing policies aimed at the welfare, capacity-building, and safe working environment of young doctors. Officials added that the initiative has set a positive precedent for other hospitals across the province.
