PESHAWAR, Dec 22 (APP):The prime accused in the Kohistan financial scandal, Qaiser Iqbal, has submitted an application to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) seeking a plea bargain worth Rs14 billion.
According to NAB, Qaiser Iqbal was serving as a head clerk in the Communication and Works (C&W) Department. Investigations revealed that assets worth Rs10 billion, including luxury vehicles, bungalows, plazas, gold, and other properties, were registered in the names of the accused and his wife.
It was disclosed during interrogation that assets worth Rs4 billion were allegedly purchased under the name of a dumper driver to conceal ownership.
NAB officials confirmed that the accused has formally applied for a Rs14 billion plea bargain with the accountability watchdog.
It is pertinent to note that earlier, NAB arrested eight key suspects in the Rs40 billion Kohistan mega corruption scandal, including two government officials, two bankers, and four contractors.
