DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 24 (APP): The district’s price review committee met with Additional Deputy Commissioner Tariq Mehmood in the chair here on Tuesday decided to reduce prices of several food items by upto 40 percent following substantial decrease of fuel prices by the government.
He said that meeting was convened in light of directives of the provincial government to trickle down blessings of policies such as reduction in petroleum prices, stability of rupee against dollars and crackdown against hoarders etc on grassroots level.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the traders association and relevant departments.
He said that the committee reviewed prices of all essential food commodities thoroughly, deciding to introduce substantial reduction in prices of certain food stuff by 30 to 40 percent.
He directed the food department and halal food authority’s officials to ensure quality and new prices of items in markets in letter and spirit in order to extend relief to people.
He urged people to identify those business elements who were overcharging people and report to the concerned authorities for taking action against them.
