Preparatory ceremony held at PCP to mark World Day of PWDs

PESHAWAR, Nov 18 (APP):A simple yet impressive ceremony was held on the lawn of Paraplegic Center Peshawar on Tuesday as part of the preparations to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) on December 3.
CEO of PCP Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, unveiled the specially designed banner for the occasion, performed the ribbon-cutting amid applause and symbolically launched the model banner into the air with balloons, marking the formal commencement of the upcoming events.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas stated that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will be observed with full dignity and prominence on December 3 through the joint efforts of Paraplegic Center Peshawar and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
He added that Khyber Medical University (KMU), the College of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (CPMR), Akbar Child Care Institute (SKI) and several other healthcare-related institutions will also participate actively in the event.
He emphasized that the core objective of observing this day is to highlight the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and the importance of treatment, rehabilitation and comprehensive services, enabling them to become dignified, empowered and productive members of society who can contribute effectively to the national economy.
Explaining this year’s international theme, Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas said that the global message focuses on the need to foster disability-inclusive societies as the true foundation of social progress. He stated that a society that ensures accessibility, equality and empowerment for every individual is the one that can truly advance on the path of development.
