MULTAN, Oct 27 (APP):Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) South Punjab leaders, Abdul Qadir Shaheen, Chief Coordinator, and Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Senior Vice President, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day.
In a joint statement, they highlighted that October 27 marks the painful anniversary of India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. “This date stands as a reminder of the Kashmiri people’s decades-long struggle, sacrifices, and unyielding resolve for freedom,” they said.
Shaheen emphasized the enduring courage of the Kashmiri people, noting that for over seventy years, men, women, and children have faced Indian oppression with unmatched determination. “Their resilience continues to serve as a global symbol of steadfastness and the right to self-determination,” he remarked.
The PPP leaders strongly condemned India’s unilateral revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which stripped the region of its special constitutional status and turned it into an open-air prison. They also condemned the escalating incidents of fake encounters, enforced disappearances, custodial killings, and widespread human rights abuses in the valley.
They called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to ensure the implementation of UN resolutions that guarantee the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.
Reaffirming the party’s historic position, the leaders declared that the PPP, following the vision of its martyred leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, would continue to provide political, diplomatic, and moral support to the people of Kashmir until they realize their dream of freedom.
