KARACHI, Nov 11 (APP):Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is pleased to announce an enhancement in gas processing capacity at the Gas Processing Facility (GPF-II), located in Gambat South Block, District Sanghar, Sindh.
The Company is the operator of the Gambat South Block with 65 percent working interest, along with joint venture partners Government Holdings (Private) Limited and Asia Resources Oil Limited with 25 percent and 10 percent working interests, respectively.
The GPF-II Plant, originally commissioned in 2016 with a design capacity of 50 MMscfd of raw gas containing 26% CO2, was previously optimized during 2021–22 to handle 55 MMscfd of raw gas through operational improvements. As part of Company’s continuous process optimization and feed enhancement initiatives, the facility has now successfully increased its processing capacity to 60 MMscfd of raw gas.
This milestone has been achieved through optimization of the Amine sweetening process by introducing a proprietary additive to the existing MDEA solvent system — accomplished without any hardware modification. As a result, the enhancement has translated into an incremental production gain of approximately 5 MMscfd of gas, 35 barrels per day of condensate, and 1 metric ton of LPG, reflecting the Company’s commitment to operational excellence and resource maximization.
This achievement is a result of continuous production enhancement efforts to maximize domestic hydrocarbon output from existing fields in a cost-effective manner.
