RAWALPINDI, Dec 31 (APP): An awareness walk was held in the limits of New Town Police Station on Wednesday to discourage kite flying and aerial firing on the eve of the New Year, with participation from the trader community and the police.
The walk was organised jointly by the Rawalpindi Anjuman-e-Tajran Commercial Market and the New Town Police to sensitise citizens about public safety, respect for the law and social responsibility.
According to the organisers, the walk was led by General Secretary of Anjuman-e-Tajran Commercial Market Raja Zafar Yousaf and Station House Officer (SHO) New Town Police Station Malik Shahid Mahmood. Vice Chairman Hamad Qureshi, executive body member Haji Mumtaz Ahmed, Joint Secretary Tahir Ismail, Mehfooz Khan, Vice President Raja Rashid Mahmood, Zubair Abbasi, Arshad Mughal, Sheikh Raheel, Waqar Bhatti, Abbas, Owais Butt, Chaudhry Imran, Iftikhar Ali, Ali Raza, Qari Sahib, other trader leaders and local citizens also took part.
Addressing the participants, speakers said illegal and life-threatening practices such as kite flying and aerial firing endangered human lives and disturbed social harmony and public order. They urged citizens to celebrate the New Year responsibly, with caution and strictly within the bounds of the law.
On the occasion, the police and the trader community reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen mutual cooperation and continue joint efforts to ensure peace, law and order, and the safety of citizens across the city.
