Police seize over one kilogram of heroin, arrest suspected drug peddler in Chiniot
CHINIOT, Jul 13 (APP):Chiniot Police on Monday arrested a suspected drug peddler and seized 1.24 kilograms of heroin during a targeted operation in Bhuwana as part of an ongoing district-wide crackdown against narcotics launched under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to a police spokesperson, the operation was carried out on the instructions of District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif. Acting on intelligence, SHO Bhuwana Police Station Inspector Asadullah, accompanied by Sub-Inspector Adnan Wajid and other police personnel, conducted a raid near Wagh Road Morianwala Chowk.
During the raid, police apprehended the suspect and recovered 1,240 grams of heroin from his possession. The seizure is being viewed as a significant success in the district’s campaign against drug trafficking.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act at Bhuwana Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the suspect’s links to any wider drug distribution network, the spokesperson said.
