LAHORE, Oct 19 (APP):On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police remained on high alert and ensured comprehensive security arrangements during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across Lahore and other districts of the province.
Earlier, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar had issued directives to Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to further strengthen church security. He instructed that supervisory officers personally inspect security arrangements at all churches and important worship places.
The IG Punjab emphasized that additional police personnel and snipers should be deployed at sensitive locations, while Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams must maintain continuous and effective patrolling around churches.
He directed that all police officers and personnel remain vigilant and closely monitor any suspicious activity or elements. Search and sweep operations in the vicinity of churches, Christian communities, and other sensitive areas should continue to maintain peace and public safety.
Dr. Usman Anwar also called upon religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committees to actively promote interfaith harmony. He added that the Punjab Police has established Mesaaq Centers to address issues of the Christian community and other minorities, ensuring their concerns are resolved on a priority basis.
