Police nab 2 members of inter-provincial robbery gang

HYDERABAD, Dec 02 (APP): Shaheed Benazirabad police have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two key members of an inter-provincial gang involved in major gold and silver robberies.
According to police spokesperson, the arrested suspects have been identified as Muhammad Shafiq Ahmed, son of Muhammad Rafiq, a resident of Lahore and his accomplice Habibur Rehman, a resident of Karachi. The gang members were apprehended with the help of modern technology,  efforts of police technical team and effective human intelligence.
Spokesperson said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing dozens of major robberies in various districts, including Karachi. The criminals admitted that around 20 days ago, they broke into a gold shop at Sona Bazaar in Umerkot and looted the entire safe. It was further revealed that the gang had stolen several kilograms of gold and silver from different gold shops in Umerkot, Larkana, Karachi, and the jurisdictions of Sukhan and Docks police stations.
Spokesperson said that two of their accomplices, Irshad alias Totla and Imtiaz, both residents of Karachi, are still at large. Looters admitted that after each robbery, the stolen valuables were sold to different gold dealers in Karachi and Lahore.
According to the police, the gang used to travel across districts, conduct reconnaissance of gold shops and then carry out targeted robberies. Special tools used for breaking locks and safes were recovered from their vehicle, which had been used repeatedly in their crimes. On the other hand raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects and the entire gang is expected to be brought to justice soon.
