PESHAWAR, Nov 11 (APP):The district police in Haripur have issued an official circular instructing Afghan refugees residing in the area to repatriate to their country.
The decision came after an aired report highlighting the large presence of Afghan refugees both inside and outside designated camps in the district.
According to the report, thousands of Afghan nationals are settled across Haripur and the influx of new refugees from other areas and districts continues. Following the report, Haripur Police released a circular directing all DSPs, SHOs, and barrier in-charges to prevent the entry of new Afghan refugees into the district.
The circular, issued by the District Police Officer’s office, further instructed local police officials to take practical steps to ensure that Afghan refugees prepare to leave the district.
It is noteworthy that Afghan refugees remain present in various parts of Haripur, including the three tehsils, local markets, vegetable markets, Landa Bazaar, Raaye Aam Road, GT Road, Tarbela Road, Khanpur, and Ghazi.
