LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):Punjab Police spokesperson said on Saturday that Intelligence-based operations (IBOs) had been intensified to root out the drug menace across the province, including Lahore.
He said that in one day, 300 raids were conducted across the province targeting drug-dealers’ hideouts. As many as 128 individuals involved in the nefarious trade were arrested, and 125 cases were registered. A large quantity of drugs was seized from the suspects, including 46 kilograms of charas, 4 kilograms of heroin, 16 kilograms of opium, one kilogram of ice, and 2,079 litres of liquor.
Since the special campaign began on February 26, more than 40,000 raids have been conducted on drug dealers’ hideouts across Punjab. As many as 19,316 suspects involved in the drug trade have been arrested, and 18,794 cases registered.
Drugs seized during this period include 11,488 kilograms of charas, 63 kilograms of ice, 213 kilograms of heroin, 294 kilograms of opium, and over 1,717,000 liters of liquor.
