RAWALPINDI, Oct 15 (APP):The Chaklala Police foiled a robbery bid late on late Tuesday night and arrested a ‘most-wanted’ dacoit in an injured condition after an exchange of fire with four motorcycle-borne suspects, a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said on Wednesday.
The spokesman said the police party had attempted to stop the motorcyclists for checking when the suspects opened fire. The police returned fire, wounding one suspect, who was subsequently detained and found to be carrying a weapon.
The spokesman further informed that the arrested man was wanted in several cases, including attempted murder and robbery, while his three accomplices managed to flee.
Upon receiving information, senior officers and reinforced police contingents reached the scene and launched a search operation to trace the fleeing suspects.
City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani commended the bravery of SP Potohar, the SDPO Civil Lines, and the Chaklala Police for their valour in the face of gunfire, the spokesman added.
‘Those who attack the police and endanger citizens’ lives will not escape the grip of the law,’ the CPO asserted.
