Police foil drug supply attempt, one held with liquor

MULTAN, May 30 (APP):Police have successfully foiled an attempt to supply a large quantity of liquor ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, arresting a key suspect involved in the preparation and distribution of liquor.
In line with special directives of the City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar, Mumtazabad police under the supervision of DSP Azhar Khan and SHO Azhar Abbas Gull, launched the special crackdown to prevent supply of drugs during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The police arrested a drug dealer Shan, son of Kareem Bakhsh, who was running an distillery for supply of locally brewed liquor during the Eid festivities. The police also recovered 120 litres of locally produced liquor and 900 litres of raw fermentation material (lehan) from the site.
Police sources added that the suspect has confessed during interrogation that the liquor was being prepared specifically for distribution on Eid.
Further investigations have been initiated to trace the wider network involved in the supply chain.
DSP Azhar Khan stated that the police was fully mobilised to maintain peace and order during the Eid holidays. He emphasized that operations against drug dealers and liquor suppliers will continue in full force to eliminate such social evils from society.
