RAWALPINDI, Mar 02 (APP): Police have arrested a man accused of murdering his friend over a previous enmity, along with his accomplice, just a week after the incident.
According to police spokesman, the suspects allegedly invited the victim to their house under the pretext of Iftar and opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
After committing the crime, the accused reportedly attempted to destroy evidence at the scene.
They then placed the body in a carry van and shifted it to the District Headquarters Hospital in Chakwal.
Police said the suspects tried to give the incident the appearance of a suicide before fleeing the scene.
However, Jatli Police registered a case and launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the victim’s friend and the driver of the carry van.
Efforts are underway to apprehend other accomplices and facilitators involved in the crime.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Anum Sher stated that the arrested suspects will be challaned in court with solid evidence to ensure they receive exemplary punishment under the law.
