Planning Minister highlights role of Christian community in Pakistan’s progress

LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal attended a one-day spiritual prayer service held at Isa Nagri, Narowal as the chief guest, where he paid rich tribute to the Christian community for its historic and significant contributions to the creation, development, and progress of Pakistan.
The event was organized under the leadership of Senior Pastor Anwar Fazal and attended by Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Pastor Nida Anwar, local leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), and a large number of Christian community members, said a press release issued here on Sunday.
In his address, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that Pakistan’s strength lies in national unity, strong institutions, and interfaith harmony. He said that religious minorities were equal citizens of the country and the Constitution guarantees complete religious freedom to everyone. He added that the PML-N had always upheld the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, ensuring that every citizen may practice their faith freely and with dignity.
Condemning recent acts of terrorism, Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan desires peace but this
aspiration should never be mistaken for weakness. “The enemies of Pakistan must realize
that anyone who casts an evil eye on our country will be made an example. Our martyrs
are our pride, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he asserted.
Earlier, Senior Pastor Anwar Fazal led the congregation in special prayers for the safety, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan. He prayed for national unity and stability, as well as for the Pakistan Armed Forces, and state institutions. Strongly condemning the terrorist attack outside Islamabad District Courts, he prayed for the martyrs’ families and for the quick recovery of the injured.
He also prayed for the health of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and appreciated her
dedication to public service.
Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said the Punjab government was committed to protecting the rights and welfare of minority communities. He said such events were essential for promoting social harmony, unity, and mutual respect among all segments of society.
Pastor Nida Anwar also led special collective prayers for the peace, prosperity, and security
of the nation.
At the end of ceremony, a raffle draw was held under the employment initiative of Isaac TV, through which motorcycles and financial support loans were distributed among unemployed youth.
