MULTAN, Oct 22 (APP):In a major public service initiative, the Punjab government has launched a mobile police station and licensing unit in Multan to bring police services directly to citizens, particularly students and women.
The project aims to enhance accessibility, convenience, and trust between the public and law enforcement agencies.
As part of the initiative, a Pink Police Service Van was inaugurated at the Women University Multan to provide on-site facilities for female students and staff. The mobile unit offers more than fifteen essential police services in one place, including the issuance and renewal of learner, regular, and international driving licenses, as well as character certificates and FIR registration.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Muhammad Kashif Aslam, inaugurated the van, accompanied by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Kulsoom Paracha. Speaking at the event, CTO Kashif Aslam said that the initiative marks a milestone in improving public access to police services and empowering women by making facilities available at their doorstep.
Students and faculty members at the Women University praised the Punjab Government’s effort, calling it a progressive step that reduces the distance between citizens and the police. They noted that previously, they had to visit multiple offices for such services, but now all facilities are conveniently available within their university premises.
CTO Kashif Aslam emphasized that the mobile units will regularly visit educational institutions and workplaces to extend these facilities, ensuring that women and youth can access essential police services quickly and safely. He added that the project reflects the government’s vision of citizen-friendly policing and community engagement.
The mobile police station and licensing unit initiative was expected to play a vital role in strengthening the relationship between the police and the public while setting a new standard for convenience, accessibility, and inclusivity in public service delivery.
