PHC summons officials over non-payment of police increment dues

PESHAWAR, Feb 25 (APP): The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday took up a contempt of court case regarding the non-payment of increment dues to police personnel despite previous judicial orders.
The hearing was presided over by Chief Justice SM Atiq Shah, who directed the Secretary Finance and the Police Budget Officer to submit their response within two weeks.
According to the petitioner’s counsel, thousands of police officials were promoted between 2018 and 2021. The personnel were upgraded from grades five to seven, seven to nine, and nine to eleven. A decision had been made to pay their increment dues in 36 installments however, the payments have not yet been made.
The court issued notices to the concerned parties and sought a detailed response regarding the delay in payment of the increment dues to the upgraded police officials.
