RAWALPINDI, Oct 20 (APP):The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi is actively promoting greenery and enhancing the city’s beauty through continuous plantation, nursery development, and horticulture work.
A PHA spokesperson said on Monday that under the special directives of PHA Rawalpindi Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, the Authority was focusing on the cultivation and care of a wide variety of flowers and plants in its nurseries to ensure self-sufficiency in plant production and to support ongoing beautification projects across the city.
The spokesperson added that different varieties of shade trees and ornamental plants were being cultivated daily using high-quality seeds and modern techniques, including air layering, a process through which roots develop from a branch to produce new plants.
He said that the plants grown in the PHA nurseries were being planted in various parts of Rawalpindi, which had significantly enhanced the city’s visual appeal and contributed to a greener environment.
DG Ranjha said, “Workers in the PHA nurseries are diligently engaged in plant breeding and horticultural maintenance with great skill and dedication. The nurseries now fully meet the need for plants in the city’s parks and green belts, making the Authority self-sufficient in this regard.”
He added that efforts to make Rawalpindi greener were being carried out in accordance with the vision of the Punjab Government.
