CHINIOT, Jan 29 (APP):On the instructions of DG Punjab Food Authority, the food safety teams on Thursday conducted operations across the district and checked various food businesses.
During the operation, a well-known Herbal store was shut due to the presence of insects, poor cleanliness and storage arrangements, the spokesperson said.
The teams inspected several milk shops, meat shops and food points.
Heavy fines were imposed on meat shops for the absence of counter frames and poor sanitation, they added.
While various food businesses were also fined Rs 50,000 for serious violations of the rules.
During the inspection, more than 10 liters of expired cold drinks and more than 5 kg of other expired products were destroyed from grocery stores.
According to a spokesperson ,the actions would continue to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the people.
