LAHORE, Nov 13 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority has seized 10 maunds of substandard ketchup and vegetable sauces and shut down a production unit for violating food safety laws.
According to spokesperson, the Food Safety Teams, acting on the directives of the Director General Food Authority, raided a factory in Chungi Amarsadhu and found large quantities of substandard ketchup and sauces being manufactured using prohibited non-food grade raw materials.
The teams also found that the factory was lacking proper records and medical certificates of employees, and was operating in unsanitary conditions with infestation of insects and dirty utensils.
Director General PFA has warned that such fake products were being supplied to the market in attractive packaging, posing a risk to public health. He emphasized that food business can only be conducted in accordance with the Punjab Food Authority laws and regulations.
The Director General Food Authority has assured that the Authority is committed to ensuring the quality of food products and will take strict action against those involved in adulteration and fake products. Citizens can report any complaints to 1223.
