PFA seizes over 11 maunds of substandard meat in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI, Jul 28 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi intensified its crackdown against suppliers of substandard meat by intercepting a vehicle carrying meat near New Chakra Road.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the authority set up a checkpoint and stopped a vehicle loaded with meat.
Following an inspection and a report by a veterinary doctor, more than 11 maunds of substandard meat were declared unfit for human consumption and disposed of in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
The spokesperson said a case was registered on the complaint of the Punjab Food Authority. One suspect was arrested from the spot, while the vehicle was taken into police custody for further legal proceedings.
The Punjab Food Authority said its province-wide campaign against the supply and sale of substandard meat is continuing to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for consumers. Citizens have been urged to report food-related complaints through the PFA helpline 1223.
