LAHORE, Oct 30 (APP):The enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out operations in different areas of Lahore and seized 9,720 litres of oil, 2,200 kilograms of dead chicken and 500 litres of adulterated milk.
The food safety teams intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number LES-3461 that was transporting dead chickens. Vehicle was impounded and an FIR was registered against the accused. At Shah Fareed, Sabzazar, a milk shop was sealed after on the spot testing confirmed adulteration. Substandard milk was immediately discarded and a separate FIR was lodged.
DG PFA said that milk failed quality testing and did not meet the prescribed standards of the Punjab Food Authority. He said that the supplier of dead poultry failed to provide mandatory documentation and lawful records required for transportation. A veterinary specialist examined the recovered chickens on site and confirmed that they were dead prior to delivery.
The DG said that those risking public health for financial gain have no place in Punjab. He said that ensuring citizens’ access to safe, hygienic and nutritious food remains the top priority of the Punjab Food Authority.
He requested the public to support the PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and report to the PFA on its 1223 helpline number in case of any complaints.
