PFA seizes 40 maunds of unhygienic meat during crackdown

KOT ADDU, Feb 11 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out a major enforcement operation against unsafe food in Kot Addu, seizing and destroying approximately 40 maunds of unhygienic meat during a large-scale raid in Tehsil Chowk Sarwar Shaheed.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Food Authority, the operation was led by Operations Director South Punjab Shehzad Magsi, who, along with his team, conducted a raid on the basis of confidential information. During the operation, a huge quantity of substandard, foul-smelling, and health-threatening meat was recovered, which was allegedly being prepared for sale in the local market.
Officials stated that the recovered meat was extremely unhygienic and dangerous for human consumption. To prevent it from reaching the public, the PFA immediately took the meat into custody and destroyed it on the spot. A heavy police contingent was also present during the operation to ensure security and smooth execution of the raid.
Speaking on the occasion, Operations Director Shehzad Magsi said that strict legal action would be taken against those playing with the health of citizens, and no one would be allowed to sell unsafe or substandard food items. He emphasized that the Punjab Food Authority would continue its uncompromising campaign against adulteration and unsafe food across South Punjab.
The spokesperson further revealed that the process of registering cases against three individuals involved in the illegal activity has been initiated, while further investigations were underway to trace the supply chain and identify other responsible elements.
