MULTAN, Jul 13 (APP):In a major crackdown against food adulteration, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized 100 kilogram adulterated tea and 40 kg counterfeit packaging material during a raid on a tea repackaging unit in Pirowal.
Acting on the special directions of Director General PFA, Muhammad Asim Javed, a food safety team conducted a raid at the unit and seized a large quantity of fake packaging material. During the test, the presence of synthetic colors illegally mixed into the tea was found.
The team also recovered counterfeit packaging labeled under various well-known tea brands.
Samples of the seized tea were sent for further laboratory analysis. An FIR was lodged against the owner of the unit. DG PFA Muhammad Asim Javed said that those involved in adulteration would be dealt with strictly.
