PFA probes suspected food poisoning incident in Lahore
LAHORE, Sep 13 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams have launched an investigation after four members of a family fell ill after consuming food in Harbanspura.
Taking immediate notice of the incident, Director General PFA Mansoor Ahmad directed the teams to reach the site and hospital and conduct a detailed investigation.
According to the initial investigation, the family had consumed food that had been prepared the previous night, following which their health deteriorated. PFA teams, in coordination with the relevant departments, collected samples for laboratory and forensic examination.
Forensic experts suspected that a lizard might have fallen into the food, said a PFA spokesperson.
The DG directed food safety teams to collect samples of various food items from shops in the area and ensure their proper analysis.
DG Mansoor Ahmad advised parents to exercise greater caution regarding children’s food and prefer fresh, homemade food. He also urged citizens to remain careful about their food and drinking habits in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
He appealed citizens to keep food properly covered and always prefer freshly prepared food. In case of vomiting, nausea or abdominal pain, they should immediately consult a doctor and use oral rehydration solution (ORS), he added.
The DG said strict monitoring was being carried out from food preparation to transportation and supply to markets, while food safety teams remained active in the field to ensure food safety and protect public health.
