RAWALPINDI, Oct 22 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Murree on Wednesday sealed a wedding hall and penalised five others, including catering units, during an inspection drive against unhygienic conditions ahead of the wedding season.
The inspection teams checked 37 wedding halls and catering centres in Cart Road, Lower Mall, Ghora Gali, and Dewal areas. One wedding hall was sealed over extremely poor sanitary arrangements, while five outlets were fined a total of Rs75,000 for failing to maintain hygiene standards.
A spokesman for the Punjab Food Authority said the inspection campaign in Murree was part of a province-wide drive to ensure the provision of safe and hygienic food at public gatherings during the wedding season.
He added that strict legal action was being taken against those involved in supplying unsafe food and urged citizens to register complaints through the PFA Helpline 1223.
