PFA Lodhran makes inspections of over 23,000 food outlets last year

LODHRAN, Jan 03 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Lodhran released its performance report for the year 2025, highlighting extensive efforts to promote safe and healthy food practices.
According to the report, the PFA Lodhran carried out large-scale inspections and enforcement actions to ensure compliance with food safety laws.
During the year, over 23,000 food points were inspected, while 10,000 establishments were issued improvement notices for violating food safety regulations. As part of strict enforcement against food adulteration and fraud, 28 FIRs were registered and 13 outlaws were arrested.
The report further revealed that 36 food businesses had their production suspended until improvement. During inspection drives, authorities disposed of 11,500 liters of adulterated milk and 2,800 liters of substandard cold drinks. Additionally, 700 kilograms of unhygienic meat, 340 liters of rancid oil, and 280 kilograms of prohibited food items were destroyed.
The Punjab Food Authority also confiscated and disposed of 1,000 sachets of banned gutka and 100 kilograms of prohibited China salt. Meanwhile, 236 food samples were collected for laboratory testing, and 174 new food business licenses were issued during the year.
