RAWALPINDI, Dec 27 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted major operations in Rawalpindi and Attock to ensure compliance with food safety laws, spokesperson said on Saturday.
The operations were led by the Additional Director General of PFA along with inspection teams.
During detailed inspections of five food points on Murree Road in Rawalpindi, authorities found extremely poor hygiene standards and workers without valid medical certificates. As a result, four food outlets were fined. In Attock, three food points were inspected, with two immediately sealed due to serious violations of health and sanitation rules.
Authorities also seized and destroyed 1,600 kilograms of adulterated and substandard sauce on the spot in Attock. According to the PFA spokesperson, a total of five food points in Rawalpindi and Attock were fined Rs 570,000 for issues including poor cleanliness, substandard food, and lack of workers’ medical records.
The spokesperson added that the Additional DG continues to conduct surprise inspections across the province to ensure safe and quality food for the public. Citizens are urged to report any complaints regarding food safety immediately via the Punjab Food Authority helpline at 1223.
