RAWALPINDI, Oct 08 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Murree has intensified its inspection drive along Mall Road, Lower Topa, and the Expressway following the start of the tourist season to ensure the provision of quality and hygienic food to visitors.
A PFA spokesperson said on Wednesday that the Authority’s teams had inspected 10 food outlets, fined two of them Rs140,000 each for extremely poor hygiene conditions, and issued notices to the remaining establishments to improve standards.
The spokesperson said providing quality and hygienic food to citizens and tourists was the Authority’s top priority. The fines were imposed due to unhygienic conditions at the premises, he added.
He further advised citizens and tourists to lodge complaints through Helpline 1223 in case of any violation, reminding that the sale of substandard or unhygienic food was a punishable offense under the law.
