PFA discards 50,000 banned gutka sachets in Vehari

MULTAN, Oct 25 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided and seized a large quantity of 50,000 sachets of banned gutka sachets and arrested a key supplier in Vehari district.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director Operations Maha Saeed in Mohallah old City, Mailsi.
Acting on a tip-off from the Vigilance Wing, PFA team raided a secret storage site where nearly 50,000 sachets of banned gutka were recovered. The confiscated stock, consisting of multiple brands, was destroyed on the spot. An FIR was got registered, and one suspect also taken into custody.
According to Director General Punjab Food Authority, Muhammad Asim Javed, the seized gutka was intended for supply to various paan shops and drink corners across Vehari city and its surrounding areas.
He further stated that the use of gutka poses serious health risks, including oral and throat cancer. He urged the youth to avoid using gutka.
